Project Type: Food Security
Year Completed:   2023
Value:

The Galana-Kulalu initiative represents a remarkable food security endeavor led by the Kenyan government, with the National Irrigation Authority overseeing its implementation. This visionary project endeavors to ensure food self-sufficiency in Kenya through the irrigation of a staggering one million acres of land spanning across Tana River County and Kilifi County. By undertaking this ambitious endeavor, Kenya not only aspires to achieve unparalleled food security but also sets a monumental precedent as the largest initiative of its kind in East and Southern Africa.

The Project Description

We at Cropmasters are pleased to announce that we have been retained by Selu Africa Limited to design and manage the pilot maize production on 500 acres in Galana-Kulalu Irrigation Scheme under the National Food Security Project.

With just 36 days from planting, the progress is so far impressive and we are confident that we shall delivery decent yield from the trial.

Varying plant population, and fertilizer regime, we are keen to see which of the four maize varieties is best suitable to achieve optimum yield in Galana-Kulalu.

We are sure that if successful, this project will go a long way in addressing hunger and cost of living in Kenya and the region.
